Refuelling Fire Girl

Here you see Tanker 26, Douglas A-26B, B.U. No. 43-22653, "Fire Girl" C-GPTW, which has just shut down for fuelling before re-launching to attack fires set by lightning from the storm in the background.

This aircraft saw war service in 1945 with the USAAF 9th Air Force, 572 BS, 391 BG, in Belgium and Germany. As with T2, it has since been retired from fire-fighting along with all the other A-26 stable mates.

The shot was taken at Loon River, Alberta, Canada. [FS6]
