One Engine Take-Off
Sometimes everything does not work as it should. This photo illustrates that fact. If you look closely, you will notice that the no. 1 engine on this Douglas DC6B is feathered and not turning. The engine had "given up the ghost" the previous day and the crew were doing a ferry flight back to their home base in Abbotsford, B.C., for an engine change. There was lots of power left--it just took a little more of that pilot s**t to get her airborne on three engines. The photo was taken at Footner Lake, Alberta [CYOJ]. Fred Paget, photographer |
