CASA
2111
This photo was taken at a fly-in at Edmonton City Centre, CYXD. A CASA 2111, a Spanish-built version of the Heinkle HE-111, the aircraft in this photo, and a Boeing B-17G from the former Confederate Air Force, were among the aircraft which attended that day. The main difference between the HE-111 and the Spanish version was the engines. The Heinkle utilized inverted Junkers v-12 engines while the CASA was equipped with British Rolls-Royce v-12 Merlins. This aircraft, the CASA 2111, was later destroyed in a crash, sadly taking the lives of both pilots. It was rumored that this plane had been the personal aircraft of the former Spanish dictator, General Franco. Fred
