Helicopter
Herbiciding
In order to reduce competition for seedlings planted by forestry companies, an annual aerial herbiciding program is carried out to eliminate unwanted deciduous species, as well as grasses that overshadow the desired species and retard their growth in the re-planted areas. Specially engineered booms with attached nozzles are mounted on helicopters, which, due to their maneuver-ability, are preferred over fixed-wing aircraft. These are then employed to deliver the desired product without affecting residual forest areas. This photo was taken north of Whitecourt, Alberta. Fred
