Crack Between the Worlds

Anyone who is familiar with the author, Carlos Casteneda, and his writings about the Yaqui Indian sorcerer, Don Juan, will recognize the term “Crack Between the Worlds.”

One warm evening, I was driving from Tucson , Arizona, west across the O’odham Indian Reservation, hoping to get a sunset shot of a Saguaro cactus and was not having much luck finding an ideal subject. It was almost pitch black and the sunset was fading fast. Just as I rounded a curve, there it was. I jumped out of the truck, set the camera on the tripod and bracketed three shots. I had my photo! I have a large copy framed on my wall at home and, as the real sun sets, the photo fades almost the same as the light did the night I took it.
