FRED W. PAGET, A.M.P.
Officially, I am Frederick
Winston Paget. My dad was a great admirer of Winston Churchill, Britain's
great wartime prime minister, so he named me after himself and Winny,
or as he put it, "Two good men." Most folks just call me Freddy.
Landscape and travel photography
are among other types of photography that interest me. I like to think
I'm documenting a bit of the "world of now' for the future. To this
end, I have travelled extensively throughout Canada and the western United
States, finding scenes of unparallelled beauty and grandeur.
Having been born into a forestry-oriented family in New Brunswick, I attended Maritime Forest Ranger School in Fredericton, NB, and graduated as a Forestry Technician in 1970. I have worked in forestry in some capacity ever since. For the past several years I have worked as an oil patch consultant at the Athabaska Oil Sands near Fort McMurray, Alberta. I am a professionally trained Master Photographer, having trained with the New York Institute of Photography and received my diploma in 1992. In 1996, the International Freelance Photographers Organization recognized me as an international freelance photographer and a lifetime member. In 2006, the Degree of Distinction honorarius was bestowed on me as an Accredited Master Photographer, and I received the right to use A.M.P. after my name. The Charter recognized extraordinary achievement and confirmed my right to the use of A.M.P. In an unpaid testimonial, I want to point out that I use Nikon cameras and lenses exclusively. As far as I am concerned, they are the best out there. Even Buzz Aldrin used a Nikon for the first photos taken on the Moon. |
